Cutie Casita

One of my very dear friends just bought her very own house. I am so proud of her, and I just love the layout of her home. It is going to be such a little jewel by the time she gets it all fixed up. She has a really cute little back yard with a dreamy palm tree. It’s not too big, and not too small -just the right size.

I don’t like coffee, but I would seriously take up the habit if I could sit out on her little back patio every morning. But the best part is the open concept living/dining/kitchen area. And she has given me the honor of helping her jazz up the space. We don’t have a huge budget, but we are going to be able to pull off some really sweet little changes that will make a huge difference. I will keep you guys posted on the progress as things move along. So far we scraped down all the popcorn ceilings (WHY DO BUILDERS DO THAT!?!?), sanded them down, and painted them. Which believe me, was a huge job, but it looks so much better. We have new lighting, counter tops, and a faucet on order. Unfortunately the tile for the back splash is on back order. Here are the before shots.

Do you love the ugly brown carpet? It really accents the ugly brown walls.
Look past the ugly fan over the kitchen island and you’ll notice the hideous popcorn ceiling texture.
More incredible light fixtures.
We will be replacing these counters and doing a flat island.
OMG. This does not even begin to show you how messy scraping popcorn ceilings is. It totally is worth it though.
